I have always been interested in understanding people and experiencing different cultures. After studying International Relations at the University of California Davis, I spent the next decade traveling the world; the harder it was to get to a place, the better!
I began importing handmade items that eventually led to the small business I now own, Global Home, supporting Fair-Trade practices around the world. What I loved when buying rugs in India was that we would always sit down, have a chai and talk, often for hours. This custom of creating spaces to come together to talk story and connect and to share a cuppa tea informs how I run my business today.
I have always lived my life outside the box. During my travels around the world, I spent many years studying and teaching yoga as well as doing deep meditation studies around the world. It became clear to me that all along I’d been on a spiritual journey, an inward path towards deep personal growth, open to wherever that might take me. As I traveled the world alone, I leaned heavily into my intuition, something I’d felt since I was young, and let it guide me safely to where I needed to go. During this time, I learned to trust deeply in my own inner guidance, and as a result it continued to grow.
During my second year in India I met my husband. We were married several years later on a small beach in Hawaii surrounded by a few friends and many whales breaching in the background, and our daughter was born in Hawaii later that same year. Motherhood stopped me in my tracks, and it soon became apparent that this was the deepest, most challenging and most rewarding practice of my life. From the start I knew I wanted to raise her in a conscious, alternative way, and so began our journey into Waldorf education. Bringing the creative, natural, holistic and spiritual realm into our home, celebrating festivals and creating rhythms, learning to make everything by hand, growing organic food, using alternative medicines—all these things became natural parts of our daily lives. Creating beautiful spaces became very important to me at this point in my life after so many years of traveling, and I became certified in Feng Shui to better understand how to support the flow of energy through a space in order for everyone to flourish and feel surrounded by peace, joy, love and beauty.
While living in Hawaii I was honored to work for many years with autistic children. This was a time when my intuition really came into service as most of the children were non-verbal, and having the ability to let them know that they were seen for who they truly are proved invaluable in this work. While working with children with special needs, both in their homes and in public schools, I started my own private tutoring business. I found that I was spending as much time holding space for, compassionately listening to, and “coaching” the parents as the kids. This led me to eventually pursue my certification as an ICF certified Holistic Coach, as I felt I could be of the most service in this way.
I have recently relocated from Maui to Ashland, Oregon with my husband and two kitties, while our daughter has started college in San Francisco. I love exploring all the nature around us, discovering new trails to hike and places to take out the paddle board, working in my garden, reading, doing yoga and meditating, spending time with friends and family and just slowing down for a good cuppa tea, all while being in such a creative area full of art and music and theater, organic farmers markets, natural beauty and a wonderful community.
I would love to connect with you!
